System One has partnered with an industry leading national engineering firm in their search for an experienced Structural Engineer to join their team of driven, diverse, and committed individuals in Denver, CO. The Denver division provides structural engineering services with an emphasis on new design, repair, and rehabilitation of construction works, and investigation and performance evaluation.
Job Summary: As a structural engineer, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing structures to ensure their safety, stability, and durability. You will work closely with architects, construction managers, and other engineering professionals to develop cost-effective and innovative solutions for various projects. Your expertise will be crucial in assessing the structural integrity of buildings and infrastructure, providing recommendations for improvements, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Structural Analysis and Design:
- Perform structural analysis using software tools and manual calculations to determine the forces, stresses, and deflections acting on a structure.
- Design structural components such as beams, columns, slabs, foundations, and connections to meet safety, performance, and aesthetic requirements.
- Consider factors such as live loads, dead loads, wind loads, seismic loads, and soil conditions in the design process.

Construction Oversight:
- Review construction drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements and applicable codes.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, including responding to requests for information (RFIs) and conducting site visits to monitor progress and address any structural issues.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify potential risks to structural integrity and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
- Conduct structural inspections and assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure to evaluate their condition and recommend repairs or upgrades as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate design efforts and resolve design conflicts.
- Communicate technical concepts and recommendations effectively through written reports, presentations, and meetings.

Continuing Education and Professional Development:
- Stay current with advancements in structural engineering principles, materials, and technologies.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities and professional certifications to enhance expertise and maintain licensure.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience as a structural engineer required (5+ years of experience preferred).
- BS in Engineering required. MS in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain licensure within one-year of employment.
- Proficiency with computer analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE, etc.)
- Ability to work in and review work in AutoCAD or Revit. Experience with Rhino, Sketchup, Solidworks, or similar programs are desirable.
- Proficiency in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office suite software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to travel to remote job sites not accessible by public transportation and, if applicable, have a driving history that will result in an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
