Job Description Summary
As a metal fabricator you will use various machines and perform layout operations to fashion components for various assemblies. You will set-up and operate machines such as brake press, Davi roller, cold saw, punch, shear, and drill press. To be successful you will need basic blueprint reading skills while understanding specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances. You will also need working knowledge of metrology instruments (calipers, micrometers, ruler, and height gauge).
This is an onsite position only available at our Erlanger, KY Service Center. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, with weekend work as optional. Available shifts include 6:45AM to 3:15PM or 4:45AM to 1:15PM.
Our Erlanger, KY Service Center is responsible for manufacturing/assembly and/or repairs of large utility grade Steam Turbines and Generators.
Job Description
Your Role:
- As a metal fabricator you will use various machines and perform layout operations to fashion components for these assemblies.
- Sets-up and operate fabricating machines such as brake press, cold saw, and drill press.
- Operate cranes, forklifts, and bevellers.
- Basic blueprint reading – Understanding specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- De-burr, grind and finish with hand tools or power-driven equipment.
- Produce high quality work and achieve tight tolerances to fixtures and engineered drawings.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environment following all safety standards and requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of metal fabrication experience within a manufacturing setting.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with Press Operation, Machining, or Welding.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow Blueprints.
- Working knowledge of metrology instruments (calipers, micrometers, ruler, and height gauge).
- Ability to make mathematic calculations as required by the position.
