Job description

Position Summary:


The Pharmacy Technician Registered assists the pharmacist with providing safe and

appropriate pharmacy services to FHCW patients in accordance with policies and procedures and MA

professional standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintains working knowledge of and adheres to the program Manual, agency handbook and Policies

and Procedures
• Commitment to providing cost conscious, fiscally responsible, timely, efficient, effective, safe, patient centered, culturally competent, equitable, and participatory health care.
• Attends all required training as per Agency Policy, Program Manual and Funder Guidelines.
• Arrives on time for work, remains at work for whole shift, regular and predictable attendance.
• Maintains appropriate boundaries and ethical standards with staff, clients, visitors and outside

providers as detailed in Agency Policy.
• Maintains positive and professional working relationships with co-workers, managers, clients, visitors

and outside providers
• Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer skills (including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)

• Processes personal health information in accordance with FHCW HIPPA policies/procedures.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Answers all calls professionally and identifies self by name and pharmacy.
• Records patient information accurately and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Assures availability, preparation, appropriate storage, and control of medications.
• Assists Pharmacist with the accurate counting and dispensing of medicines.
• Participates in all quality improvement activities and quality surveillance activities such as JCAHO.
• Assures timely documentation of compliance efforts.
• Understands and complies with individual payor formulary and documentation requirements.
• Uses appropriate customer service skills.
• Request patient’s positive identification before cashiering out controlled substances as

scheduled II, III, IV, and V.
• Implements protocols for assuring patient understanding of medication dosing instructions/potential

side effects/therapeutic goals.
• Assures culturally and linguistically appropriate interpretation to patients.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

One of the following combinations of education and employment experience must be met in order to

be considered for the position:

Education And Experience:

Must have completed an accredited Pharmacy

Technician program. High School diploma or GED

required. Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in

the sciences preferred.

Preferred candidate will have one – three years of experience as a pharmacy technician.

Must hold a current Certification in MA as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
