As a direct report to the CEO and a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will wield significant influence in shaping our legal strategies.This multifaceted role requires you to provide strategic guidance and day-to-day operations across a wide array of legal domains. This includes corporate affairs, securities, intellectual property, commercial operations, mergers and acquisitions, privacy regulations, employment matters, and broader regulatory and legal issues, all while operating within a global framework.

How will you make an impact?

• Legal Strategy: Develop and implement the company's legal strategy, aligning it with business objectives and risk tolerance.
• Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including those specific to the LiDAR sector.
• Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including customer contracts, vendor agreements, and partnership agreements.
• Intellectual Property: Protect and manage the company's intellectual property, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
• Litigation Management: Oversee and manage any legal disputes, including selecting and working with external counsel when necessary.
• Corporate Governance: Advise on corporate governance matters, including board meetings, record-keeping, and compliance with corporate formalities.
• Data Privacy: Ensure compliance with data privacy laws, including the management of data protection policies and procedures globally.
• Employee Relations: Provide legal guidance on employment matters, including contracts, terminations, workplace policies, and investigations.
• Corporate Development & Investment: Support corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and fundraising activities.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks and challenges faced by the company.
• Regulatory Affairs: Stay updated on relevant regulations and advise the company on adapting to legal changes and best practices.

What qualifications and skills will make you succeed in this role?

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in California bar.
• 15+ years of legal experience, with a preference for candidates with previous in-house counsel experience.
• Proven track record of successfully managing legal matters and providing strategic counsel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of relevant industry regulations and legal best practices.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• High ethical standards and a commitment to fostering a culture of compliance within the organization.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strategic vision balanced with excellent execution.
• Project management experience with superior organizational skills.
• Experience with later-stage startups is a plus.

Where is this role located? This role is located in Sunnyvale, CA. Candidate must live in/near Sunnyvale, CA and be able to travel up to 20%.

What is the Pay Range?

$200,000-$300,000

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, annual base salary for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Seyond. We also offer an annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for equity (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus). In addition, our highly competitive benefits package is designed to support your success.
