We are seeking a dynamic, engaging individual that will be responsible for providing day-to-day counseling services to students in our high school grade levels in face-to-face, online, and blended environments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Take the lead in the school's efforts to ensure the social-emotional wellbeing of students
• Converse with students in large/small groups and one-on-one social-emotional and academic counseling settings 
• Assist students, staff, and parents in making use of counseling services
• Coordinate counseling information and recordkeeping, maintaining privacy of personal information
• Provide counsel from a Christian perspective to assist students with personal issues when needed
• Refer students and families to outside resources for additional support when needed
• Remain current in relevant professional organizations; review current literature and best practices in school counseling
• Participate in, coordinate, and conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program and the school 
• Willingness to participate in school-based committees in a cooperative effort with other faculty and staff
• Provide academic counseling in alignment with and in support of the school’s Academic Program

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to Counseling, Psychology, or related subject; Master’s preferred 
• Valid Georgia educator’s counseling certificate preferred
• A spirit of dedication, commitment, flexibility, and responsiveness
• An authentic godly demonstration of love for students and a desire to personally invest in their maturation 
• Highly professional oral and written communication skills using English
• Must be a Christian role model
• Excellent interpersonal communication, presentational communication, and organizational skills that will aid in building relationships with students, parents, and faculty constituents
• Ability and willingness to reflect and improve practices
• Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of diverse family dynamics
• Willingness to learn the details of the GAC academic program
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues including faculty, fellow counselors, and high school administrators
• Ability to work with Communications to highlight and promote academic outcomes and honors for GAC students
• Ability to to speak, read, write, and understand a second language with ease, such as Spanish, is a plus

REPORTS TO

High School Principal

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to be stationary for prolonged periods at a desk, sometimes while working on a computer. Must be able to operate a computer and other office machinery. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must be able to position self to maintain files in lower and higher drawers in cabinets.

Must be able to read written or electronic documents with or without correction. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Must be able to traverse between office buildings/facilities on campus.

Other:

Successful background check, reference checks, and drug screening clearance required. Agreement to support GAC's Mission (see below). Acknowledgment of and agreement with GAC’s Statement of Faith and Community Covenant required.
