Position Summary:
Provides services and supports to infants, toddlers (birth to age three), and caregivers in a family focused, home based setting as part of a transdisciplinary team. Provides documentation of interventions consistent with Early Intervention Regulations.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree plus ASHA CCC registration and valid Rhode Island Speech/Language Therapy License required; 2-5 years experience providing treatment to infants and toddlers (birth to age three) in a family focused, home based setting preferred; experience in the multidisciplinary provision of services; advanced knowledge in one or more special treatment areas, such as treatment of Feeding, Autism, Hearing Impairment, etc. Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record, automobile insurance, and own vehicle to be used as directed.
Essential Functions:
- Provides individual short or long term direct speech/language therapy treatment when indicated through consensus of the multidisciplinary team, including the parents, and written into the child’s IFSP.
- Protects the rights and dignities of individuals with developmental disabilities and extend these rights and dignities to family members or guardians.
- Upholds and complies with all safety programs and policies to maintain a safe work environment for employees, consumers, family members, and visitors.
- Commits to organizational quality initiatives by participating in programs that will assure quality improvements and team processes.
- Provides essential functions, service coordination, and primary therapy, community and home based settings to achieve goals in all necessary areas.
- Participates in arena style multidisciplinary evaluations and provides oral and written information to the child’s parents and other team members.
- Obtains consultation from other members of the team in areas outside own expertise; such as social work, cognition, motor development, in order to fully address the needs of individual children on caseload.
- May provides leadership in toddler groups, as directed.
- Maintains licensure and professional knowledge through participation in professional organizations, conferences, and in-services.
- Documents all activities to own licensure regulations and requirements necessary for billing, agency policies, or Early Intervention regulations.
- Provides individual or group formal teaching to parents and other members of the team on own area of expertise.
- Provides supervision, consultation, or orientation to other speech/language therapists on the team as directed.
- Maintains pediatric CPR certification.
