Position Summary:

The position serves as the primary liaison for the Vice President of Information Technology (VPIT), fostering partnerships with university executives and external leaders. Responsibilities include overseeing planning, communication, and project management within the VPIT office, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating and resolving technical issues, driving organizational change, and aligning IT initiatives with business objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

  • Experience using data reporting, analysis, and visualization tools to support IT planning and continuous improvement processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and project teams including project planning and execution.

Leads and supervises the planning and communication areas within the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and supervision of the project management area within the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology. Gather, analyze and implement management information requirements for major sections of client business needs; scope is not limited to individual department needs, but to cross functional and enterprise-wide needs.
  • Facilitates the design, development and implementation of business solutions focusing on keeping projects on track for scope, timeline, budget and quality.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary surrogate for the Vice President for Information Technology and convenes, facilitates, and leads partnership activities with senior executives of the University and other leaders internal and external to VPIT units in developing an integrated approach to enterprise-wide technology initiatives that impact the University community at-large.
  • Develops, supports, and facilitates University-wide relationships that allows others outside VPIT units to better influence and support business process, technology, and change initiatives, including organizational change efforts, strategic initiatives, and assessment and continuous improvement processes University-wide.

  • Partners with senior leaders internal and external to the IT organization to develop an integrated approach to enterprise-wide planning, and engagement initiates and ensures implementation of improvement processes that impact customer satisfaction and relationships.
  • Engages and partners with internal and external constituencies to successfully implement these approaches. Oversees internal service efforts related to these services and processes.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary surrogate for the Vice President for Information Technology and convenes, facilitates, and leads cross-functional and technical groups in responding to and resolving issues, outages, event escalations, and other critical events which require immediate coordination across University-wide organizations and departments.
  • Develops appropriate communication strategies and plans in response to such episodes and supervises their implementation in close-coordination with others in the Office of the Provost and University Marketing and Communications.

  • Acts as a champion for organizational change efforts, strategic initiatives, and assessment and continuous improvement processes across all University communities.
  • Evangelizes and coaches others regarding corporate decision-making processes, prioritization, and IT/business-unit alignment.
  • Creates synergies with other IT areas.
  • Establishes individual and organizational objectives that are aligned with overall IT and business goals.
  • Documents and presents performance assessments. Champions workforce deployment of IT organizational resources.
  • Generates appropriate communication for mitigating the disruption of change. Develops timelines and action steps for anticipating and framing the type of change.
  • Manage change within the IT organization.
