Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe GIS Field Technician (Local) is part of the Operations Team and reports directly to the Director of Operations. The primary responsibilities of the GIS Field Technician are to work safely, to accurately collect and input data into mobile applications, and to work efficiently and effectively at all times in support of field audit projects. We are hiring a team of ~10 GIS Field Technicians to work on a streetlight data collection project located in the Fremont and San Leandro, and the job is expected to last no more than 3-4 months. The successful GIS Field Technician demonstrates the ability to read and follow directions in a field manual, to learn and apply project-based details and requirements, always practices standard safety procedures, accurately and efficiently captures high-quality data, and communicates and works well with Evari staff.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely, accurately, and efficiently collect data in the field including location and project specific
data about existing assets (e.g. street lighting fixtures, signs, sidewalks) by inputting data in the
field into mobile applications (i.e. Collector, Field Maps) - Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Evari staff
- Follow Evari’s priority system of 1) Safety, 2) Data Quality and Accuracy, and 3)
- Efficiency and Effectiveness in all data collection, verification, and creation efforts and procedures
- Practice safety measures at all times in the field, including wearing proper personal protective equipment
- Practices safe driving at all times
- Stay in compliance with all Evari GIS and Client safety programs, as applicable to
specific jobs - Ensure accuracy on data collection efforts by practicing meticulous field observation
- Take care of Evari equipment including but not limited to: vehicles, tablets, GPS units, range-finders,
and measuring devices - Communicate daily with fellow technicians, lead technicians, project leads, and the Evari
team about work progress - Accurately track daily work time using company time tracking software
- Interact with bystanders effectively and politely, as a professional representative of Evari GIS
- Use Google Email, Calendar, Chat, GIS software, and various applications to effectively communicate and
coordinate with the team
GIS Field Technician Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance
- Must be able to reliably show up to work area on time
- Is able to drive and/or walk for 8 hour periods
Successful Candidate Must Have
- Undergraduate degree
- Basic understanding of, or ability and drive to learn, GIS concepts
- Enthusiasm and excitement for delivering high-quality work products
- A positive attitude and drive to create and advance their own career
- Ability to be professional in all staff and public interactions
- Ability to read, learn and apply concepts conveyed in a field manual
- Ability to effectively communicate

Compensation
- $22 hourly pay

Travel
- The GIS Field Technician works in their local area and is responsible for their own housing and commute to and from work each day.
