Job description
We are currently seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist to join our surgical services team. The Certified Surgical Technologist will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of quality care in the operating room.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and organize the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
Assist the surgical team, including surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists, during surgical procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and support.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other team members, assisting with tasks such as suturing, retracting, and maintaining a sterile field.
Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout the surgical procedure to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
Assist with patient positioning and ensure their comfort and safety during surgery.
Prepare and label surgical specimens for laboratory analysis, as required .
Manage surgical instruments and equipment, including their cleaning, sterilization, and proper storage.
Participate in the counting of sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure patient safety.
Provide support to the surgical team in emergency situations.
Comply with all hospital policies, protocols, and safety guidelines.
Requirements:
Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) within one year of hire.
Alternate education and training may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Two years of recent operating room experience in an acute-care facility.
