Position Summary
The Pozzo-Miller Lab in the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development at the MSU Grand Rapids Research Center is seeking to hire a (Postdoctoral) Research Associate specializing in electrical and optical monitoring and manipulation of neuronal activity in brain slices and unrestricted mice. The long-term goal of our research is to determine the consequences of mutations in genes associated with neurodevelopmental disorders associated with autism on neuronal and synaptic development and function, stability of local brain networks, and cognitive performance using transgenic mouse models. We specialize in the characterization of mouse models of autism from the cellular to behavioral levels, and this position will offer training in diverse techniques such as cellular electrophysiology and imaging, confocal microscopy, and behavioral assessments, in addition to the opportunity to develop and implement state-of-the-art techniques for in vivo imaging and recording during behavioral tests.

Required DegreeDoctorate -Neurobiology/Neuroscience
Minimum RequirementsCandidate must possess a terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in neurobiology or neuroscience.
Desired QualificationsPhD-level candidates with five (5) or more years' experience with intracellular and extracellular electrophysiological recordings in brain slices or in vivo, fluorescence confocal imaging (fixed tissue or live), survival stereotactic surgeries, and management of transgenic mouse colonies are preferred.
