Audio-Visual Installation Technician (Onsite)

The Opportunity

The Audio-Visual Installation Technician works within the Video Engineering & Event Services department, a team of audio-visual engineers, service owners, technicians, and media producers. This team supports audio-visual applications, infrastructure, and services across the university including the AV Installation service, Event Technical Support & Media Production, CUView Digital Signage, Kaltura video streaming, and Zoom.

The AV Installer is responsible for audio-visual system installation and shop builds. This work includes physical installation tasks, such as the attachment of cameras, microphones, speakers, flat panels, and other devices to equipment mounts, and system configuration tasks, such as loading code, IP tables, and other configuration items. The installer is also responsible for end-to-end testing and troubleshooting of finished systems in the field.

What We Need

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's degree with a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years' experience in AV installation or low voltage system installations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of audio-visual signal flow.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and coordinate within an enterprise IT organization.
• Attention to detail and strive for excellence in work quality.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.
• Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion , and wellbeing.
• Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AVIXA CTS or CTS-I certification.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
