Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Transportation Manager, plans, organizes and implements the transportation services of the PACE Center. The PACE Transportation Coordinator is a pivotal role responsible for the efficient coordination of transportation services for PACE participants, ensuring safe and timely transit to and from the PACE center, medical appointments, and other related activities. This role includes driving responsibilities, route planning, and collaboration with the transportation team to deliver high-quality service aligned with PACE program objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a compassionate understanding of the needs of elderly participants.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or specialized training in logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to be insured by the organization's auto insurance provider.
- Previous experience in transportation services, preferably in a healthcare or senior care setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy and patience in dealing with elderly participants.
- Basic computer literacy for scheduling and documentation tasks.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to lift and assist participants as needed, adhering to safety and mobility support protocols.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance protocols and familiarity with automotive repair.
- Understanding of transportation-related regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Coordination:
- Schedule and coordinate daily transportation services for PACE participants, including but not limited to, trips to the PACE center, medical appointments, and other program-related activities.
- Develop efficient route plans to optimize travel time and ensure punctuality.
- Communicate effectively with participants, caregivers, and healthcare providers to confirm transportation schedules and address any specific needs or accommodations required during transit.
Driving Duties:
- Safely transport PACE participants to and from designated locations following all traffic laws and PACE safety protocols.
- Assist participants with boarding and disembarking from the vehicle, ensuring the use of any necessary safety devices and providing support with mobility aids as required.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition and report any maintenance or repair needs.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules, participant attendance, vehicle maintenance logs, and other documentation as required by PACE policies and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to transportation services, including vehicle safety standards and accessibility requirements.
- Oversee and ensure adherence to manufacturer-suggested maintenance schedules for all vehicles in the PACE transportation fleet, including regular inspections, oil changes, tire rotations, and any necessary repairs to maintain optimal vehicle performance and safety.
- Coordinate with approved service providers for timely maintenance and repair work, verifying that all services performed meet the manufacturer's standards and quality requirements.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities, including dates of service, nature of maintenance or repairs, and costs, to ensure a comprehensive vehicle service history.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with the Transportation Manager and other team members to identify and implement improvements in transportation services.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge of PACE program requirements and best practices in transportation services.
- Provide feedback on transportation processes and participant needs to support continuous improvement efforts.
