VETERINARIAN 3 (Rehabilitation Veterinarian/Specialist) Department Description

Job Summary The Rehabilitation Veterinarian or Specialist provides consultation, evaluation, and both inpatient and outpatient patient care requiring rehabilitation and integrative medicine. The Integrative Medicine service sees internal and external referral cases and provides multidisciplinary supportive care to non-surgical and post-operative patients. This care includes managing of pain, improving functional impairment, optimizing mobility, and promoting wellness and quality of life. This position will work closely with faculty, veterinarians, house officers, staff, and students while providing consultation and training on rehabilitation and integrative medicine. This includes both didactic sessions and clinical supervision for students, house officers, and staff. Applicants will be screened on a weekly basis. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Maneuver/lift equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform treatments in and out of the underwater treadmill.
- Ability to move recumbent small animals from floor to cages or gurneys, and be able to stand for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT - This position is subject to Medical Surveillance procedures and review in accordance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations and University Policy.
- May require working with or around areas with hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases.
- Work occasional flexible schedule including variable hours/days on short notice, weekends and/or holidays. Availability to work 8 to 10 hour shifts.
- Employee is personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines/instructions.
- Specific hazards of the position are listed in the VMTH Safety Training document and are reviewed with the incumbent annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum License/Certification: - Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD)
- University Veterinary License or Full Veterinary License from the state of California.
- Completed certification in Canine Rehabilitation (CCRT/CCRP/CCRVNMRT) or Veterinary Acupuncture (CVA/CVMA/CVAT). Minimum Education/Experience:
- Experience using a computer to maintain patient records and utilize software programs. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere and interact in a collaborative manner with clinicians, students, staff and referring veterinarians.
- Complete working knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area of rehabilitation PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred License/Certification:
- Board certified or eligible in Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, or a minimum of 5 years' experience in veterinary rehabilitation. Preferred Education/Experience:
- Completed certification or experience in veterinary chiropractic/manipulative therapy, veterinary pain management, or veterinary hospice and palliative care.
- Strong interest, knowledge and experience in integrative medicine and palliative care in small animals.
- Teaching experience in veterinary medicine, rehabilitation, acupuncture, or integrative medicine.
