Position Summary/Description:

The Research Project Manager provides project and service management and subject matter expertise to the NC TraCS Community and Stakeholder Engagement (CaSE) Program and its clients and collaborators. NC TraCS is an NIH -funded institute that educates, funds, connects, and supports researchers at UNC -CH and across the US. The CaSE Program and the Research Project Manager support the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical and translational research projects, services, trainings, and resources that promote community and patient engagement and foster partnerships between UNC research teams and diverse communities across North Carolina to ensure that research questions and approaches are informed by and relevant to the populations they aim to impact. The Research Project Manager serves as a subject matter expert regarding best practices for community and patient engagement in research and functions as a liaison between NC TraCS and health research stakeholders. 

More specifically, the Research Project Manager is responsible for: 
  1. Managing and providing consultative support and contracted services to UNC research teams who are seeking to develop, evaluate, or modify their strategies for engaging community partners. This includes serving as a subject matter expert in the areas of community and patient engagement and providing resources and services related to engagement and qualitative research;
  2. Developing and implementing educational initiatives (e.g., trainings, resources) to promote community and patient engagement in research and increase researchers' and partners' capacity for engaged research; 
  3. Managing the development and coordination of programmatic research projects that foster and promote engagement in clinical and translational science;
  4. Leading efforts to promote TraCS engagement services and resources across campus and in local communities. 

The Research Project Manager will manage day-to-day operations of projects under their purview with considerable independence, especially in the areas of decision-making, problem-solving, evaluation, and milestone management.

Education and Experience:

Preferred qualifications include:
* Prior experience working in community-based settings.
* High level of motivation and vision for addressing issues related to engagement and outreach as it relates to clinical and translational research
* Experience developing and implementing engagement-related activities, events, trainings, resources, or other projects for diverse audiences. 
* Familiarity with qualitative research approaches, especially focus group facilitation, semi-structured interviewing, and data analysis.
* Oral and written fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred and would confer an opportunity to collaborate with the NC TraCS Inclusive Science Program's multilingual inclusion programming.
* Excellent organizational, communication, and task management skills.
