CURRENT VACANCY INFORMATION:

The Department of Corrections has a current vacancy for a Correctional Boiler Engineer located at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham, Maine. This position is open to current Department of Corrections employees as well as outside candidates. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is structure and craft work involving the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam heating equipment at a correctional facility. Responsibilities include making routine and emergency repairs on heating, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems and supervising boiler operators, maintenance mechanics, and laborers and overseeing and monitoring resident behavior for activities of a resident crew engaged in assigned tasks. Work is performed under general supervision.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (These are required to successfully perform the work assigned)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TOthe following coursework/training and/or experience).

Current valid Stationary Engineer’s license as issued by the Maine Bureau of Labor, Boiler Division.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Stationary Engineer's license as issued by the Maine Bureau of Labor, Boiler Division. Some positions may require a valid State of Maine Class C motor vehicle operator’s license.
