The Training Manager’s primary function is to ensure the proper training of all vehicle operators and staff.
Essential Job Functions: - Collaborates with schedulers/dispatchers, vehicle operators, and all other Operations personnel to accommodate training schedules.
- Enforces BCRTA policy and procedures related to service operations, communicates policies and procedures to all Operations personnel, and administers procedures and policy consistently and effectively.
- Consults with the management team as requested in the recruitment and hiring strategies, and training requirements.
- Responsible for the decision making of all training needs for new hires and current employees.
- Creates content for new hires and current employees for professional development.
- Collaborates with the Human Resource and Operations staff to interview and hire new employees.
- Completes reports in writing, within 24 hours, of all incidents and accidents.
- Manages risk by promoting a safe working environment and service operations.
- Ensures that all accident/incident procedures are communicated and effectively administered.
- Investigates and responds to complaints from user groups, staff, and community sources.
- Acts as the primary staff development manager by administering the driver training program, staff re-training programs, and employee evaluation program.
- Recommends improvements for the BCRTA safety program to executive management.
- Performs regular field supervision to ensure employee compliance with BCRTA policies while assessing that customer service standards are exceeded.
- Works with the management team to support other departments, e.g.: Maintenance, Finance, and Operations.
- Participates and attends training seminars to maintain up-to-date knowledge within the profession.
- Requests time off as required by BCRTA policy.
- Acts as an ambassador of BCRTA by always promoting a positive image.
- Assists management with special projects.

REQUIREMENTS: Physical & Visual Activities: Constant period of hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision.
Frequent periods of speaking and sitting.
Occasional periods of standing, squatting, walking, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: None.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS: Occasional exposure to exhaust fumes.
Usual office environment.

Experience: Two years supervisory and management transportation experience. Experience with public transit operations preferred.
Education: High School diploma required. BA or BS preferred or equivalent work experience.

BCRTA is a political subdivision of the State of Ohio organized as a Regional Transit Authority under Ohio code. BCRTA acts as the designated recipient for Federal Transit Funds and provides public transportation services within and around Butler County, Ohio including Hamilton, Middletown, Fairfield, West Chester, Oxford, and Miami University. The BCRTA employs or directs around 120 transit employees and manages an annual budget over $7M. BCRTA is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees.
