SAIC is seeking an experienced ground communications Ground Systems Engineer to provide expert advice to senior Government leadership regarding technical and programmatic strategies to operate, sustain, and upgrade an existing ground-based space system that is within the portfolio of the United States Space Force's Program Executive Office for Space Domain Aware and Combat Power. You will play a crucial role in providing recommendations translating mission needs into an actionable architecture. This position is on the Horizon 2 contract, based in El Segundo, CA .
Your primary responsibilities will involve performing activities to develop and implement an advanced Ground Segment, including: concept of operations formulation; requirements definition, analysis and engineering; system architecting; system analysis and design; development of interface and data architecture; validation and verification; systems integration; system and network operations performance analysis; lifecycle cost analysis and estimation; decision analysis; and physical configuration analysis. You will need to have in-depth experience with DoD program acquisition processes and documentation. You will interact and coordinate daily with numerous stakeholders (Program Managers, Contracting Officers, System Engineers, and external/partner organizations).
Fun stuff you will do on the job:
- Support various systems architecting and engineering activities such as system requirements definition, design, interface management, data architecture development, verification and validation, integration, performance analysis, lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis, and physical configuration assessments
- Manage technical and interface requirements and their verification
- Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Support development of system engineering items such as CONOPs, requirements definitions (or features, themes, epics), system testing, algorithm document review, and interfaces to other application development efforts
- Support the development and refinement of acquisition strategies as well as identifying program execution issues and provide recommendations when possible
Qualifications
This Is You:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 9 years of relevant experience (4 years of additional experience may be used in lieu of degree) with:
- Technical program management experience
- Software Systems Engineering, Design, and Architecture Development
- Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable)
- Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartment Information and Special Access Programs and willing to consent to a Polygraph examination

- A Master’s Degree with and technical pursuit
- Professional Certifications such as INCOSE CSEP, PMI PMP, etc.
- Experience with government acquisitions of major weapons systems
- Experience with Space Systems within the Space Control mission area
Target salary range: $150,001 - $175,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
