Join our client's esteemed research team as we seek to bring on board two qualified Contracts Specialists . In this role, your primary responsibility will be to offer technical support to both scientific and administrative teams in the development and management of grants and contracts originating from diverse sources, such as Federal, private, and industry sponsors. Your critical task will be ensuring adherence to institutional policies and Federal regulations governing grants and contracts.

Qualifications for the Contracts Specialist:

1. Education and Experience for the Contracts Specialist:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Public/Business Administration, or a directly related field is mandatory.
• Preferred: 1-4 years of direct experience; however, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience showcasing equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

2. Mathematical and Financial Skills for the Contracts Specialist:

• Proficient in performing mathematical calculations.
• Mastery in applying Cost Accounting principles to create cost estimates and internal reports.
• Ability to articulate financial data to both management and scientific personnel.
• Excel spreadsheet proficiency.

3. Regulatory Knowledge for the Contracts Specialist:

• Familiarity with federal regulations, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations), DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement), and federal cost principles contained in OMB Circulars A-122, A-133, and A-110.
• Alternatively, equivalent experience with DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency).
• Strong knowledge of grant and contract policies from major funding agencies, with a preference for experience with agencies such as the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense (DOD).

4. Communication and Professionalism:

• Exceptional professional-level written and verbal communication skills.
• High degree of professionalism.
• Excellent judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting various deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

5. Computer Proficiency:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• Willingness and ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

6. Citizenship:

• Must be a US Citizen.

7. COVID-19 Vaccination:

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required before commencing employment.

Compensation:

• Annual compensation ranges from $64,000 to $78,000, depending on experience (DOE).

Additional Requirements for the Contracts Specialist position:

• Successful completion of background checks is mandatory.
• Ability to gain access to Kirtland Air Force Base is required for this position.
