Job description

The School District of Waukesha is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a Special Education Assistant position at Bethesda Elementary School. This position will work collaboratively with the teacher(s) to coordinate and implement care and assistance according to Individual Education Plan(s). This is a part time position.

Examples of duties may include, but not be limited to the following:
• Convey the content of messages clearly and accurately according to the receptive language level of the student.
• Assist in communication throughout the school day in a variety of settings as outlined in the IEP.
• At the direction of the teacher, work on academic, communication, social, and self-help skills.
• Assist the teacher in providing instructional activities and reinforcement.
• Physically assist with students including lifting and transfers as needed.
• At the direction of the school nurse and as documented in the student's health plan, attend to the students' health needs.
• Assist with personal care procedures as needed for students (ex. dressing, toileting, feeding, etc.)
• Other assignments as directed by the teacher or principal of the building.
• Attendance is an essential function of this position.
