Job Description and Duties

Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.


Under the supervision of the Environmental Program Manager I, and under the lead direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist, Specialist, the Agricultural Technician I will perform a variety of outreach and data entry tasks primarily for the Apiary Protection Program within the Integrated Pest Control Branch.


THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 20 HOURS PER WEEK


Duties include but are not limited to the following:


• Enter hard copies of CDFA issued apiary brand documents into an MS Excel spreadsheet.


• Organize digital records of apiary brands.


• Post updates of apiary brand spreadsheets to the CDFA extranet site


• Organize Apiary Protection Program folders


• Participate in the development of outreach materials (pamphlets/handouts).


• Attend training events to communicate Program activities to the public and other stakeholders.


• Gather, organize and post news, events, programs’ research results, and other related material.


• Assist in responding to the public’s comments regarding webpage questions or corrections and inquiries.


• Post information generated by program staff.

Working Conditions

This position is limited to 20 hours per week. Subject to change when needed.


The incumbent works in an office setting with workstations (cubicles) that are in close proximity to other branch staff. The station is equipped with modular furniture, a phone, and a computer with various desktop programs. A printer is located outside of the immediate workstation area. The workstation is also equipped with an adjustable roller chair, file drawer cabinets, and a desktop of standard height. Files with shelves are located throughout the office. The maximum height of the files is approximately six feet.


When traveling, the incumbent will be driving an assigned state vehicle to cities within the State of California. Overnight trips may be required (State provides per diem and hotel).


Regular or recurring telework may occur as part of the incumbent’s ongoing regular schedule in accordance with CDFA’s Telework Policy.

Clean Driving Record


The minimum qualifications for this position requires 3 months of agricultural experience that relevant college courses may be used to substitute to fulfill this requirement. Transcripts will be requested if using college courses to meet these requirements.
