The Corporate Paralegal will be an integral member of the legal team and will have a diverse range of responsibilities. We are looking for an experienced candidate with a background in corporate governance, contracts administration, and corporate transactions with an interest in expanding their role as legal department needs arise. Our ideal candidate is an avid learner who possesses impeccable written and oral communication skills, good judgment, keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to track multiple projects, and discretion handling confidential information. Five years of experience as a corporate paralegal are required, preferably in both a in a law firm and a public company. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook is required.

Maintain systems and processes for storing the companys legal files to ensure easy access and organization

Serve as custodian of corporate records and support the maintenance of subsidiary entity activity, jurisdictional qualifications to do business, and related entity and corporate governance items

Support Nelnet attorneys in corporate and real estate transactions and assist with due diligence efforts and follow-on compliance as needed

Manages process and documentation associated with IP portfolio, including support of ongoing filings

Track employee stock purchase, sale, and gift activity, manage Rule 10b5-1 plan activity, intake, tracking and reporting

Respond to requests for information and documents from our internal and external auditors, regulators, partners, and other stakeholders

Build productive relationships and feedback loops with business teams and shared services to drive efficiencies

Assist with special projects as needed, with the ability to work in an ever-changing environment

Assist the Legal team in developing, implementing, and optimizing processes and systems to increase the efficiency of the legal department

EDUCATION:

Paralegal certificate, Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Five years of corporate paralegal or related experience with a law firm or public company.

Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail

Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills with the ability to work with tight deadlines

Skillful project manager with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects in a fast-paced environment

Proven self-starter with demonstrated ability to make decisions and navigate ambiguity

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and other similar software applications commonly used by attorneys and legal departments

Strong work ethic, values, and integrity

Ability and willingness to take on new areas of responsibility
