Job description
On any given day at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology, we’re reimagining ways to create magical viewing experiences for the world’s most beloved stories while also transforming our media business for the future. Whether that’s evolving our streaming and digital products in new and immersive ways, powering worldwide advertising and distribution to enhance flexibility and efficiency, or delivering Disney’s unmatched entertainment and sports content, every day is a moment to make a difference to partners and to hundreds of millions of people around the world.
A few reasons why we think you’d love working here:
Building the future of Disney’s media: DE&E Technologists are designing and building the infrastructure that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.
Reach & Scale: The products and platforms this group builds and operates delight millions of consumers every minute of every day – from Disney+ and Hulu, to ABC News and Entertainment, to ESPN and ESPN+, and much more.
Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms and enhance how audiences experience sports, entertainment & news.
Business Operations is the glue of DE&E Technology, with a persistent focus on connecting all the pieces of the business. All the components that make up the organization – engineering, product, design, operations, support and more – come together and move the business forward with oversight, effective prioritization, and guidance. This team synthesizes information from across the business to ensure leaders are armed with all the necessary data before making strategic and financial decisions. From forecasting, funding, tracking, and reporting on projects, to ways of working, and resource management, Business Operations has transparency and input into all aspects of the team.
We seek an enthusiastic and experienced Technology Business Analyst II, reporting to the team lead for Curation, to join our Strategic Planning and Analysis team to help perform critical functions that guide business decisions across our rapidly growing portfolio. The team manages the Global Technology Roadmap, covering process, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll work to curate narratives and ensure transparency across the organization.
In this role, your mission is to craft comprehensive narratives for our organization at large and evaluate bodies of work on the roadmap, fostering clarity and organizational honesty. This role works hand-in-hand with teams in engineering, product, operations, finance, strategy, data, and executive leadership. We are searching for a data-driven, customer-focused candidate with excellent problem-solving skills and a proven track record in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Work with the Curation manager to craft multiple executive-facing reports covering the entire body of technical work across the organization – weekly, monthly, annually, and ad hoc
Maintain excellent, effective relationships with leaders and contributors who may have disparate needs and communication styles
Assess opportunities for both additional reporting harmonies and new ways of working to improve intra-organizational communication of top priorities
Act as steward for our technology roadmap — and communicate status and plans to neighbors and collaborators, as appropriate to each
Collaborate with program, product, operations, and engineering teams to understand their initiative and deliverable lifecycles
Distill insights from data and synthesizing and crafting compelling messaging for executive audiences
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Ability to manage a wide array of stakeholders and understand technical product management nuances, processes, and change across large organizations
A keen eye for intaking, digesting, and synthesizing complex technical details into narratives for executive consumption – translating from technologist to executive while capturing pertinent information at an appropriate level
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, adept at translating details into clear executive narratives
Self-motivated and strategic problem solver
Meticulous attention to detail with a well-rounded, analytical view
Proactive and resourceful
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in product management, consulting, or technical journalism
You understand the streaming video ecosystem
