Job description
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Co-op position, located in Malvern, PA . This position lies within Therapeutics Development and Supply (TDS) organization in the API Proteins group, and will run from June-December 2024 .

We are looking for a curious and motivated student to join our organization to conceive of and run studies investigating challenges in our cell culture platform. In this Co-op role, you will work collaboratively with to gather data, and develop and implement assays to characterize cell culture attributes. Your contributions will help advance cell culture process developments and deepen our platform understanding, enabling improved platform robustness and ensuring the success of manufacturing processes for production of monoclonal antibodies and multispecifics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Developing assays and tests for measuring specific cell culture characteristics
- Running upstream cell culture experiments, individually and within teams, including pre-culture, bioreactors, and harvest operations
- Coordinating with process development teams to collect data from cell culture bioreactor experiments
- Aggregating data towards building a dataset for hypothesis testing
- Using multi-variate analysis to identify and investigate correlations between these measurements, product quality characteristics and cell culture process performance
- Summarizing findings into an internal report and communicating your work to the API Proteins department
Education: - You must be enrolled in an accredited college throughout the duration of the position.
- Completion of a minimum of three years towards a BS in Chemical, Biological or Biochemical Engineering; or related science or engineering fields is required.
- This role would also be particularly well-aligned with an industrial Co-op as part of a Master's or PhD program.
Experience and Skills: Required: - At least one semester experience working within a University research laboratory.
- Candidates should possess strong written and oral communication skills, and be thorough, highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Candidates must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
- Extensive PC based skills, including Microsoft Office
- Experience with statistical and data processing software (JMP, Minitab, Matlab, R or equivalent) are required.
Preferred: - Previous co-op, internship, or industrial experience
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, assay development, and bioreactor operations
- Prior experience with data aggregation, statistical analysis, and multi-variate analysis
- Minimum 3.2 GPA
Other: - Student must be available to work full-time from June - December 2024.
- Student must be proficient in English.
- Local travel may be required.
- Students must provide their own transportation to/from their work location.
