Job Description and Duties

CCHCS seeks to fill a permanent/full-time Information Technology Specialist I position in the Information Technology Services Division.

Under direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager I, the IT Specialist I serves as the Domain Services Specialist, demonstrating an in-depth understanding and level of expertise of System Engineering to perform a wide variety of tasks requiring regular innovative problem-solving. These tasks include, but are not limited to, leading project requirements analysis, architectural development, general design and development, as well as testing and implementing enterprise solutions on existing and target infrastructures. The incumbent must maintain confidentiality of information acquired while performing job duties, demonstrate ethical behavior and work cooperatively with others. Travel to institutions and after hours support of California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) software applications and systems may be required due to operational need.

About the location – HQ (Elk Grove)

Located less than 30 minutes from Sacramento and Lodi, the progressive city of Elk Grove has a great mix of newly developed housing, business projects, and recreational opportunities.  You will truly enjoy working at our campus-style office complex (FREE PARKING), and perhaps even call Elk Grove home.

Telework:

Most positions at CCHCS Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) are eligible for telework.  This position is primarily telework and may require in-person attendance when requested.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications (MQ) will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting MQ’s with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification . Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the MQ’s, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Applicants who completed their education outside of the US (with foreign degrees/transcripts) must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency. Foreign education credential evaluation services can be found at .

Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis (TB) testing prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.
