The Deputy Court Clerk College Station TX performs a variety of clerical, court operations and administrative support duties for the Municipal Court. The Deputy Court Clerk must be compliant with the Code of Judicial Conduct and court policies and procedures. Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Provides accurate and efficient customer service to the general public regarding Municipal Court proceedings. Must be in adherence with appropriate standards of performing the duties of an officer of the Court. The Deputy Court Clerk is all under general supervision of the Customer Services Coordinator. The Deputy Court Clerk performs entry-level to routine clerical work in support of the Municipal Court. This position works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Job Duties for Deputy Court Clerk College Station TX
- Respond to information and inquiry requests from various individuals. This includes the general public, internal staff, Judges, and other departments, both in person and over the phone.
- Provide information on Municipal Court proceedings, fines, case options for citations, court proceedings/trials, arraignments, civil hearings, and other court-related processes and policies.
- Prepare and process court paperwork, extension paperwork/applications, trial and arraignment court dates, and civil hearing cases.
- Handle cashier-related duties, including processing cash payments and credit card transactions for fines/fees, serving as a collection or warrants clerk, recording and issuing transaction receipts, and generating daily balancing reports.
- Perform administrative support duties, including processing mail, night drop box, and fax requests; opening, logging, and scanning letters; maintaining inventory of mail and electronic files; scanning and printing documents; performing data entry and retrieving data/records; and processing paperwork and correspondence.
- Carry out clerical duties, including monitoring and maintaining records on cases, certifying, managing, and maintaining case files, processing records requests for notarized dispositions, scanning and electronically filing letters, documents, and motions, documenting case notes, drafting correspondences, generating case complaints, and other related activities.
- Enter and maintain data and information for court operations, including on-line payments, revoke and delinquent cases, failure to appear and warrants, and other related activities.
- Perform data entry and audit activities of the case management system, including entering, maintaining, and auditing case statuses for traffic and non-traffic violations, parking violations, city ordinance violations, arrest reports, and requests for prosecution summons.
- Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required – High School Diploma or G.E.D; two years customer service, clerical, or administrative support experience, including cash handling
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to obtain Level I Court Clerk Certification within 18 months of hire date
Must be detail-oriented
Possess strong listening, oral, and written communication skills
Possess basic level computer and typing skills; preferably MS Excel and MS Word
Ability to exercise discretion in confidential matters
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy
Preferred – Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field
Three years of customer service experience, including cash handling experience
Working knowledge of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures, Penal, Transportation, Health and Safety, and Alcoholic Beverage Code
