Job Location: Norfolk, VA
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks an Assistant Director, Stateside Military Operations. Reporting to the Regional Director, the Assistant Director position will be located at Norfolk, VA and will oversee all sites in the Hampton Roads area with regular travel to these sites required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Monitor and evaluate employee productivity and performance through various channels, including observations in employee's environment as it pertains to customer service and knowledge of the military programs.
- Create and evaluate statistics for strategic decision-making.
- Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations of all military locations/affiliations to include but not limited to National Testing Centers, Student Service centers, and military installations.
- Collaborate with the Director and make recommendations for individual and team training needs, opportunities, and business process improvements to ensure that department service levels and quality assurance standards are met.
- Develop and implement outreach campaigns to market UMUC programs and increase awareness within the military community.
- Serve as a back-up for Military Education Coordinators
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Some evening and weekend hours are required.
- Up to 50% travel to other locations is required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- A minimum of one year of experience managing and supervising others in a higher education or customer service support environment.
- The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills for both one-on-one interactions and group presentations; knowledge of People Soft and MS Office; strong leadership and management skills; is a proactive problem solver; and have the ability to work with diverse populations.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Candidates with experience in higher education, military affairs, academic advising, recruitment, marketing, or customer service are preferred.
