Starting Pay $18.80 per hour (about $37,600 annually)
Schedule: Mon - Fri 4:00 PM-12:30 AM

MAINTENANCE TIRE/UTILITY TECHNICIAN
The Maintenance Utility Technician position is a safety sensitive role in the Maintenance Department, ensuring that all tires are DOT compliant on all transit and support vehicles.
**Must have a valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement, issued by the Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles within 120 days of employment**

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of RRM, working effectively in a diverse work environment, using prudent judgment at all times, performing duties in a safe manner, and assuring professional quality of services to all external and internal customers.
- Performs grounds upkeep and lawn care at all RRM facilities, which includes, but is not limited to, mowing, weed eating, leaf blowing and trash pickup and removal at all RRM properties.
- Performs visual inspections of RRM shelters to identify shelter damage and/or problems and reports such issues to supervisor.
- Performs all phases of interior and exterior RRM shelters cleaning, which includes, but is not limited to, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, lights, seats, gum removal, graffiti removal and trash removal.
- Operates and cares for all RRM equipment and tools in a safe and professional manner.
- Operates RRM vehicles while in strict compliance with RRM policies, directives, and procedures and all Federal and Arkansas traffic laws and regulations. This includes using proper defensive driving techniques.
- Maintains current knowledge of and adherence to all RRM operating policies, directives, and procedures.
- Installs and removes interior and exterior RRM approved signage as directed.
- Performs job duties using various chemicals in a safe and professional manner following RRM safety policies, directives, and procedures as well as following manufacturer instructions and environmental guidelines.
- Interacts with RRM staff and the public in a courteous, professional manner when conducting transit bus trades.
- All other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, process work rapidly, set priorities and work under pressure, all while maintaining accuracy of work and completion of assigned tasks with limited supervision
- Demonstrated ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, and push/pull and lift up to 75 pounds in a proper safe manner.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, awkward physical positions, and at various heights.
- Basic knowledge of automotive preventative maintenance requirements.
- Ability to operate and maintain all equipment in a safe and professional manner.
- Ability to use prudent judgment and problem solving skills to make reasonable and appropriate decisions and recommendations.
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to efficiently manage time and workload, which includes prioritizing, organizing, and following-through on a variety of tasks, assignments, and projects to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a standard shop environment, which can include, but is not limited to, working with dust, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, and chemicals for an extended length of time as well as in various outdoor weather conditions as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, customers, and external organization representatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be to meet the following:
A. Required Education:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
B. Required Prior Experience:
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Basic experience operating commercial vehicles and be experienced in the use of tools to perform related work.
- Experience working with industrial cleaning equipment and supplies.
C. Special Requirements, including Licenses and/or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement, issued by the Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles within 120 days of employment.
- Must have a good driving record as defined by METRO.
- Must have the ability to pass a pre-employment background check, a DOT medical examination, and drug screen.
- Ability to obtain certification as a qualified forklift operator.
