Description
Elevate your career options. Merchants Bonding Company is seeking candidates for a surety risk and financial analyst in the Orlando/Miami Florida area. This individual will become a valued consultant to our agents and brokers in the Orlando/Miami area. Our underwriters forge relationships with agents and brokers, soliciting and analyzing commercial bond submissions to make underwriting recommendations. Travel for this position includes up to 25%, consisting of day trips and occasional overnights.

Our Commercial Surety Underwriter Trainees:
- Analyze bond applications, financial statements, legal documents, indemnity agreements, statutes, bond forms, and other pertinent data
- Determine risk and appropriately approve commercial surety bonds
- Maintain and create relationships with independent insurance agents by phone, in person, and in writing to increase bond production
- Possess strong analytical and research skills as well as ability to shift focus quickly to appropriately handle a variety of bond applications
Successful underwriters have a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance or equivalent work experience in the bond industry and/or commercial banking/real estate. 1+ years of business experience in related surety bond positions is preferred. Qualified candidates:
- Are bilingual or speak Spanish
- Accounting/Finance Degree or an internship within this department
- Must be willing to go out and speak with agents in person
- Must be willing to travel the East Coast of Florida once a month
- Have the ability to accurately read and analyze financial documents
- Are detail oriented with strong critical thinking and analysis skills
- Possess above average verbal and written communication skills
- Can prove their ability to work independently and within strict deadlines
- A history of providing excellent customer service and sound judgment
- Can negotiate successfully and professionally
