Duties

Implement training, exercise, operational planning/deployments, annual tour scheduling and the administration of the aeromedical requirements addressing critical skills capability.


Provide deployment support for members sourced or tasked for deployments such as AEF, operational missions, exercises, rapid responses, scheduled and unscheduled.


Provide aircrew training program support and instructor support for assigned flying personnel.


Coordinate and schedule airlift support for C-130, C-17, KC-135 and other nontraditional AE airframes as directed, and assures allocated missions are planned and executed with efficiency and efficacy within allocated resources.


Assign aeromedical evacuation crew members (AECM) to crew positions based on analyses of individual training requirements, availability of training, and mission needs.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.



SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level (or other equivalent pay systems) in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which includes providing support in the daily program management activities in areas such as training, readiness, logistics and operations in an aeromedical evaluation organization and analyzing, reviewing, instructing and evaluating the execution and implementation of operations and aeromedical evacuation systems and processes.

EDUCATION: Two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:


1. Knowledge of aeromedical evaluation (AE) operations principles, policies, and procedures and a comprehensive knowledge of operations support programs, concepts, practices, and requirements.


2. Knowledge in special aeromedical equipment, aircraft systems, and aerospace physiology as it applies in the AE setting.


3. Knowledge of Aeromedical Evacuation Technician (AET) duties as they relate to aircraft capabilities and their configuration; AE missions; emergency equipment and oxygen; communications; current flying directives; interpretation of technical guidance; principles of treating and transporting wounded or ill in aircraft; and knowledge of egressing and survival procedures when accomplished with wounded or injured.


4. Knowledge and experience using personal computers (a variety of software and hardware, i.e., word processor, spreadsheets, graphic presentations, e-mail).


5. Knowledge of analytical investigative statistical and account-type data analysis tools and techniques to develop and present analytical findings in a clear, concise, written, and oral format.


6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing prepare project and staff reports and to deliver briefings to the command's senior staff and management personnel at all levels and to plan, organize, and conduct training and information workshops.



PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.



VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE : Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Work Environment :
Work alternates between a contaminated environment and a carefully controlled clean environment. The work requires exposure to the environmental and physiological stresses of high-altitude flight and patient contact that may expose individual to infectious disease. Individual may be exposed to dangers posed by the engines and high velocity exhaust. During contingencies, may be required to work outside aircraft often on unimproved runways and in adverse environmental conditions.


Individuals on active duty may apply 120 days before separation date and should indicate in their application their military separation date. Reservists who are mobilized may submit a copy of their mobilization orders or a statement in their application stating they are available within 120 days.
