Job description
Join the Regulatory & Specialty Legal, Regulated Products team as Counsel, Food for the world’s largest food retailer. In this position, you will play a critical role providing regulatory counseling, strategic guidance and support to various stakeholder groups across the company, such as Legal, Compliance, Private Brands, Merchandising, Corporate Affairs, Operations, and other business partners. This role will serve as a subject matter expert on legal and regulatory issues related to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), state laws relevant to the food and retail industry, food labeling, food supplier management, inspections, investigations, manufacturing, recalls, traceability, and new food related business initiatives, among other issues.
About Team: What you'll do:Tracking, monitoring, and advising on federal and state food related statutory, regulatory, and enforcement developments.
Providing regulatory support for USDA, FDA, and state compliance and enforcement issues.
Providing legal advice and counsel on food manufacturing and supporting food risk and assessment programs.
Reviewing and advising on agreements with various parties to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
Developing best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal food laws and regulations.
Finding solutions to support Walmart’s strategic initiatives, ensuring that we deliver to our customers safe and affordable food options.
In government, in-house, or private practice with a reputable law firm.
Advising clients on global food regulatory laws.
Evaluating scientific and safety data and information to support food safety assessments.
Working with senior legal and compliance stakeholders.
Providing excellent written and oral communications.
Working in cross-functional teams.
