Christ Community Church in Marion, Iowa is seeking a Part-Time_ Bookkeeper _. The primary duties of the bookkeeper are code and pay invoices, maintain records of congregational giving, process payroll and complete monthly closings. Flexible schedule.

To be a success in this position you must be dependable, maintain confidentiality, be organized, demonstrate good oral and written communication skills; along with the ability to work unsupervised.

12-month per year, part-time position, flexible work schedule, no other benefits.

Position: Bookkeeper

Employer: Christ Community Church

PURPOSE: The Primary function is to properly record financial transactions of the church and provide financial reports and other financial information requested to monitor and manage the church’s financial position.

Salary: The pay schedule is twice a month, on the 15th and last day of the month.

POSITION STATUS: Part-time reporting to Pastor and the Staff Parish-Pastor Relations Committee, working closely with Church Finance members of the Advisory Board.

HOURS: 10-15 hours per week, flexible, but must work around Church Secretary’s hours (expected to be 9:00 am – 1:00 p.m. Monday-Friday).

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Record church transactions in QuickbooksTM software.

· Code and enter Accounts Payable into QuickbooksTM.

· Prepare Journal entries for weekly contribution to Church and prepare annual giving statements for congregation.

· Make adjusting entries to record Contributions to designated giving.

· Depending on experience: either enter payroll or coordinate with Accountant to make semi-monthly payroll journal entry.

· Reconcile monthly bank statement.

· Code the credit card bills to properly disseminate the charges to their various accounts.

· Constantly review transactions with a mindset of improving cost-effectiveness.

· Continually work to improve work flow and church internal controls.

· Special projects and other duties as assigned.

· Assist in preparing and maintaining an Office Procedures Reference Manual.

JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

· Excellent writing skills.

· Proficient in QuickbooksTM.

· AA degree in accounting/equivalent previous experience.

· Maintain confidentiality of church contribution information.

· Respectful and cooperative with all church staff, members, and visitors.
