Job Description Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada, actively maintains a pool of qualified individuals to be selected from on an as needed basis by the department to fulfill part-time temporary instructional needs. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Information Systems or closely related field from an accredited institution. Responsibilities Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds. The primary responsibilities are to teach college-level Administrative and Computer Office courses in an organized, scholarly, and well-planned format, utilizing the Canvas platform, course syllabus, and course materials. This position must perform course assessments as needed, have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, comply with published college policies and procedures, maintain student information including grades and attendance, encourage a positive learning environment, input grades prior to set deadlines at the end of each semester, and perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with the standards, mission, and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College. Topics covered include: teaching Microsoft Office Suite for integration with the World Wide Web, business software tools and their use for daily business practices online, current technologies for web site development, using project specific software to develop online sales reports, marketing ads, etc. Introduce students to basic techniques of desktop publishing and Web page publishing in an office. Plan and design a publication, format text, work with art, use styles, and work with multiple pages. Create a comprehensive presentation of the current Microsoft Publisher application, and the proper procedures to create and produce publications suitable for professional purposes in an office environment. Create and maintain an interactive website, which includes links, tables, frames, and forms. These courses are designed for administrative professionals to learn specific skills to succeed in and adjust to a diversified workforce with ever-emerging technologies. Other topics to be covered include: workplace mail, records management, telecommunications (including technology and etiquette), written and verbal business communication, event planning, travel arrangements, skills for multitasking and prioritizing, proofreading skills, business ethics, and customer service. The primary responsibility is to teach college-level courses. Additionally, candidates will collaborate with department colleagues to maintain curriculum consistency and contribute to course assessment practices as necessary. Compensation: $952 per credit on standard credit courses. Conditions of Employment This is an on-going pool of qualified individuals interested in part-time, temporary non-tenure track instructional opportunities at Truckee Meadows Community College. These opportunities are part-time only and will not be continued beyond the ending date. These opportunities may be terminated at will, at any time, for any reason, without notice; appointee has no appeal rights.
