The Role
As our Project Health & Safety Manager for the US, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing occupational health & safety policies and procedures that will encourage and ensure safe and effective operations for our organization in the US.
In this role, you will oversee communication and coordination of all health and safety programs for NKT, Inc. To be effective in this role you should have the flexibility to occasionally travel to jobsites as needed.
This position will oversee and guide the technical and administrative direction of the company’s health, safety and environment, as they are essential to our overall objectives.
- As an ideal candidate, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to think both operationally and strategically, while also offering the following capabilities:
- The ability to comfortably manage a health and safety team and subcontractors.
- Ability to ensure that the OSHA safety log and other administrative aspects related to safety operations are maintained in compliance with all requirements.
- Flexibility to travel to jobsite locations to perform health and safety inspections and mitigate any risks.
Required Skills & Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates should be able to demonstrate experience complying with record keeping requirements of IOSH and other regulatory agencies at the federal, state, and local levels.
As our lead safety manager in the US, it’s also vital that you possess a strong customer-oriented mindset and the willingness to be a resource to your colleagues at all levels. It is also essential that you have sound business judgement, a persuasive personality, are able to think strategically, and can lead by example. Transparency and authenticity are also highly valued attributes for all associates. In addition, we would like to see your resume include:
- A Continuing Professional Development (CPD) membership with IOSH and at least ten (10) years of experience.
- Ideally hold a lead auditor qualification to ISO45001 / 18001 Standard
- Experience working with cable and/or HDD installations, and or civil operations and sub-station work with previous positions in renewable energy, HVDC or transmission projects would be highly valuable as well.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Products and ALARP Risk Management Principles.
- Experience in corporate safety management to include investigative techniques and root cause analysis for investigating accidents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
