Job description

Title: Civil Rights Coordinator

We are currently seeking a dedicated Civil Rights Coordinator to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a Civil Rights Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our civil rights legal services, organizing educational events within the community, and engaging in various coalition and campaign efforts.

**Schedule Type:** Full-time (Non-exempt). Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

**Location:** Based in Santa Clara. Our team currently follows a hybrid schedule, with three days in-office and two days remote.

**Requirements:**

- Ability to travel throughout the Bay Area (vehicle and driver's license required).
- Authorization to work in the United States.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Conduct initial legal intakes and follow up with clients.
- Coordinate and conduct 'know your rights' events both in-person and virtually.
- Assist with grant deliverables, including data collection and reporting.
- Draft legal documents and non-legal materials such as community advisories and reports.
- Document complaints of religious discrimination and provide support to individuals facing discrimination.
- Coordinate with external parties including attorneys, employers, and law enforcement agencies.
- Collaborate with other organizations on community education initiatives.
- Assist with clerkship recruitment and onboarding.
- Perform administrative tasks within the legal services department.

**Required Qualifications:**

- Strong time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working with diverse communities.
- Personal accountability and initiative.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Experience planning events.
- Familiarity with civil rights issues affecting minority communities.
- Commitment to civil rights and our mission.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Proficiency in Arabic, Farsi/Dari, or Urdu.
- Experience in Arab, Muslim, Middle Eastern, or South Asian communities.
- Previous work in non-profit organizations or law firms.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools and growth marketing.
- Paralegal training or certification.

**Compensation:**
- Salary range: $27-$34 per hour, depending on experience.
