Are you an electrical engineer looking to contribute to reliable electricity for over 45 million people by supporting congestion management processes between MISO and other RTOs and MISO and other reliability coordinators? As our Seams Engineer I , you will be responsible for the engineering calculations necessary for processing transmission service requests and congestion management. You will also perform tasks and analysis associated with Market to Market, flowgate coordination with neighbors, and performing recurring power flow studies.
Additionally, as our Seams Engineer I , you will be part of a great team that has the unique opportunity to work with neighboring RTOs and Reliability Coordinators on a daily basis, to review and negotiate market outcomes, identify system constraints requiring reciprocal action, as well as interacting with various business areas from planning to operations. You will also have the opportunity to influence outcomes and improve processes.
In one year as our Seams Engineer I , you will know you’re successful if:
You are able to join the rotating on-call schedule that supports the flowgate coordination process.
You understand the mechanics of the overall congestion management process that MISO has implemented with its neighboring RTOs and Reliability Coordinators
You coordinate internally and externally to communicate results, resolve issues, and implement improvements.
We are looking for hardworking engineers and recent college graduates who have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
The ability and willingness to work a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule.
While not required, it is desirable to have experience using the software of PSSE, TARA, Seimen’s MUST, and/or Python.
