Salary Range: $46.7900 - $77.2200 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Director, Special Events is responsible for the strategic development and execution of Hoag Hospital Foundation events. Through exceptional leadership and continuous process improvement the director of special events will play a critical role in deepening the Foundations’ relationship with donors and inspire philanthropic support.
Primary responsibilities include creating meaningful and impactful events, guiding all event production, and creative thinking to enhance guest experiences and strategic thinking to identify key metrics for tracking event success. The Director collaborates strategically with the donor relations team, development team, and senior leadership team to ensure continuity with the Foundation’s fundraising strategies.
- Lead the planning and execution of special events, aligning them with Hoag Hospital Foundation’s objectives and supporting goals, such as new donor acquisition, retention, and overall engagement.
- Utilize creative thinking to enhance event experiencing by envisioning the entire guest journey and identifying opportunities to elevate their experience from start to finish.
- Apply strategic thinking to identify key metric points for each event and develop methods to track and analyze results, enabling informed decisions to enhance event success and overall organizational objectives.
- Foster collaboration and sharing of information to ensure a successful implementation of event plans.
- Analyze event results to determine ROI and make strategic adjustments for future events.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external staff and vendors.
- Ensure accurate tracking of all projects, their status, associated deadlines, and budget.
- Maintain consistent, high-quality adherence to brand standards across all events.
- Negotiate with venues and vendors to secure favorable rates that best steward resources.
- Develop and manage event plans, requests, and timelines, providing adequate lead time for all stakeholders to plan, execute and deliver.
- Oversee pre- and post-event coordinator, including preparing event scenarios, participating in briefings, financial reporting, and debriefings.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, organizational and relational skills.
Education and Experience
Required :
- Bachelor’s degree; 5-7 years of event or related experience.
- Experience planning and implementing programs, budgeting, strategic planning, and event production.
- Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking; Professionalism and diplomacy to work effectively with internal and external constituents.
