We are looking for a Communications Manager 2 to help advance our reputation as a leader in missile products. In this role, you will develop, coordinate and execute overarching communications strategies and content development to increase awareness of Northrop Grumman's capabilities with key audiences.
The senior manager will lead a small team, as well cross-functional teams, to provide strategic and tactical support for the organization's external communications, PR and content marketing efforts with an emphasis on digital storytelling including videos. They will be responsible for delivering key messages to target audiences across a variety of paid, earned and owned channels.
The ideal candidate will have deep understanding of missile products, advanced weapons, propulsion and hypersonics, and experience in both domestic and international markets. This position will be based out of McLean , VA .
Work in partnership with the Communications Director to evolve and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to drive reputation, awareness and engagement
Lead the creation of internal and external content, such as fact sheets, position papers, features, press releases, and digital resources for dissemination across various communications outlets
Act as a strategic communications counsel, partnering with senior leaders and communications team
Have a deep understanding of communications trends, best practices and technologies that can advance our story with key audiences
Lead and mentor a dedicated communications professional to help them achieve success in their role; work with individual team members to support their professional development and goals; be an advocate for the communications team, and for cutting-edge resources.
Train and prepare subject matter experts for media interviews and lead interviews with reporters
Use data analytics and metrics dashboards to identify effectiveness on key campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma and at least 14 years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or marketing; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or marketing; OR a master's degree and at least 8 years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or marketing
Experience in a lead or manager role
Aerospace and defense experience
Demonstrated experience in public relations, media relations, external affairs, communications, and/or marketing
Strong writing skills with experience tailoring strategic messages to a variety of audiences, particularly in translating one message for a diverse range of stakeholders
Ability to support and enhance strong communications standards, workflows and branding guidelines while disseminating content across multiple mediums, including digital, print, and more
Excellent project and team management skills
Established track record of overseeing and/or architecting effective strategic communications plans
Affinity for developing relationships with high level officials and/or industry leaders
Demonstrated proficiency at consolidating and presenting data using measurement tools and software
Proficient in Microsoft Office with ability to develop compelling presentations for executives and key influencers

Salary Range: $125,500 - $188,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
