Job description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The incumbent in this position is responsible for safely handling guests’ and patrons’ vehicles and coats to ensure proper parking, securing, and handling of keys. This position also c ourteously and efficiently provides parking tickets and/or receipts and collects parking fees from patrons at Valet/Coat Check window and lot locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Always display positive and professional attitude and presentation when communicating with guest.
- Must be flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays with the understanding days off will fluctuate.
- Responsible for the staging of guest vehicle.
- Responsible for parking guest vehicle in the parking garage.
- Responsible for retrieval of vehicles in a timely manner.
- Maintain cashier work area in a clean, neat manner.
- Remove trash at end of shift.
- Collect appropriate amount of money in exchange for parking ticket/receipt.
- Keep money and tickets neat and secure.
- Assists guests with the checking in of coats, hats and/or umbrellas in a friendly and professional manner.
- Issues claims checks for articles checked and returning articles on receipt of check.
- Maintains cleanliness of coatroom.
- Maintains hanger tickets to assure numbers are on correct hanger and hanger is in correct slot on rack.
- Informs next shift of anything that may have happened regarding coatroom.
- Reconcile daily cash drawer.
- Adhere to cash handling procedures.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Attend seminars when needed.
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
High School diploma or equivalent required. The skills and abilities necessary for effective performance within this position are typically acquired through two months of on-the-job training or related experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):
- Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Illinois Gaming Commission.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must successfully pass background check.
- Must successfully pass drug screening.
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts.
- Good driver’s record within the last 48 months and cannot have more than 3 points on record.
- Must provide a current driving record.
- Must be tolerant of moderate to severe weather conditions.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic math skills.
- 10-Key calculator.
ABILITY TO:
- Be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and guests.
- Remain calm in a hectic, fast-paced atmosphere.
- Present an image of excitement, enthusiasm, and outgoing personality, while being able to project a professional appearance.
- Drive and handle cars of all makes and models, and all types (ie. Automatic, manual, etc.).
- Must be able to address stressful situation with guests with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.
- Must be able to walk/run 90% of shift and stand 10% of shift.
- Must be tolerant of running, stooping, and bending for long periods of time
