Summary

The Coding Supervisor will assist and support the Coding Manager, is responsible to oversee daily workflows for their particular coding area of responsibility.  Ensure appropriate staff coverage for all WQ’s and other functions.    

Promote and support Teamwork, performance excellence, accountability and professionalism. 

Lead and support process improvement. Ensure the Coding Team have the education and tools they need to successfully perform to the highest levels of quality and compliance.  The Coding Supervisor reports directly to the Coding Manager.

Experience and Education

· Required – Five (5) year’s acute hospital-based Coding Supervisor experience. Preferable in an Academic environment.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

· Required – Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or an AAPC credential – Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H) , Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC ),

· Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Health Information Management or a closely related field.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

· Required – Experience working in a remote environment.

· Assists in upholding coding team expectations, customer service standards, professionalism, operating procedures and other team strategies and goals. Assist in promoting a positive engagement culture of support, continuous learning and team work.

· Work requires ability to comprehend, understand, and follow established policies, procedures, and other guidelines of some complexity

· Work requires self-motivation, maturity, and being a team player

Working Conditions

This is a Work From Home position (WFH).  The applicant must live within a one hour radius of UTSW. Minimum on-site work, in a general office setting when on-site.
