The Director of Commercial Planning and Operations plays a pivotal role in the beverage alcohol distribution industry, in this senior leadership position they will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of commercial planning and operations within the organization. The role requires a strong understanding of the beverage alcohol market, strategic planning, and operational excellence to drive growth, efficiency, and profitability.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans to drive commercial success, taking into account market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape. Collaborate with executive team members in Sales and Marketing to define and implement initiatives aligned with the company's objectives. (i.e.. Profit, Revenue, Liaising with Suppliers, etc.)
- Supply Chain Optimization: Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure efficient and effective operations with Sales and Marketing. Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution processes. Foster strong relationships with suppliers and oversee contract (must link with Revenue Mgr.) to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
- Financial Analysis and Forecasting: Conduct financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, to evaluate business performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Develop financial models and metrics to measure and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs). Provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, operations, and sales, to ensure alignment and coordination of activities. Foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and teamwork.
- Market Research and Analysis: Monitor industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitive activities to inform decision-making and develop market insights. Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential growth opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and industry partners. Attend industry events and conferences to network and stay updated on industry developments.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred)
Experience & Job Knowledge
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within the beverage alcohol distribution industry
- Strong knowledge of the beverage alcohol market, including trends, competitors, and customer dynamics
- Can have worked for a supplier or distributor within B/A or CPG company

- Demonstrates experience in strategic planning, sales management, and operations optimization
- Excellent analytical and financial skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of driving results through effective collaboration
