Job description
MW Partners is currently seeking a Strategic Communication Lead - IT and Risk to work for our client who is a leader in the insurance industry.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzes the objectives and needs of the IT and Risk organizations to conceive, develop and execute companywide or divisional communications strategies.
- Creates and executes complex communication strategies to support business priorities. Defines communications objectives and measures and monitors progress against those metrics accordingly.
- Develops, coordinates and monitors senior leader communications to employees.
- Serves as a consultant to senior leaders in communication of strategic messages.
- Writes executive communications on a wide variety of topics, ensuring messages remain consistent and tone is appropriate to that of the executive office.
- Posts articles on the intranet and collaborates on maintaining the quality and integrity of the intranet as a key strategic communication vehicle.
- Develops and maintains thorough understanding of business priorities, key business drivers, stakeholders, and new and ongoing initiatives within the company.
- Makes recommendations on how to best frame and position key issues through strategic communications counsel, supported by targeted communications tactics.
- Communicates change effectively.
- Confers with other staff and senior management to identify communication trends and employee interests and concerns.
- Serves as communications subject matter expert for other enterprise and division communicators.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with representatives of all divisions.
- Provides content consulting and editing of organizational publications and Web content for internal audiences.
- Confers and coordinates with creative team to produce multi-media and online employee communications. Manages design, development and production of collateral to ensure they meet company brand identity standards.
- May conduct opinion research to assess effectiveness of employee communications and to monitor success against goals.
- Advises senior management on effective communication strategies and implementation of these strategies across the organization.
- May lead and direct the work of others.
- Views the role with a wide lens, considering the big picture and contributing to strategy and execution for the good of the entire Employee Communications function
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Journalism, Communication, English or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with command of AP Style.
- Experience counseling executives on communication issues.
- Track record of successful, well-conceived and executed employee communication campaigns in an IT environment.
- Ability to distill and simplify technical topics and information for broad employee audiences.
- 8+ years of experience in internal communications in a fast-moving corporate environment.
- Able to work with people at all levels in the organization.
- Anticipates potential consequences of communication and trends accurately.
- Can maneuver through complex political situations effectively.
- Able to understand an organization's place and context, where it is, where it wants to be and how it proposes to get there.
- Demonstrates leadership.
- Demonstrates ethical business and communications philosophy and practice.
- Understands change management/organizational development best practices.
- Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams a plus.
- Strongly prefer candidate located in Pacific/Mountain Time.
