JOB SUMMARY: The Training Specialist, reporting to the Manager Staff Development will design, develop, implement, and oversee training programs for Midland Health. The incumbent will identify the organization’s training and development needs and create new initiatives or reform and improve existing programs. Will directly present training content and develop train-the-trainer programs for other staff to present training content. Will manage the production of guides, videos, and other supporting content. The role will also evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs with a goal to boost performance, drive professional growth and improve retention/reduce turnover within Midland Health. Will work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders and teams throughout the program development process. The role will assess the needs of both current and future employees, leadership, and management to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of all team members.
SHIFT & SCHEDULE:
Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Identify training needs and evaluate strengths and weaknesses through surveys, interviews, focus groups and communication with managers.
- Interact with all levels of employees to develop programs that ensure the highest levels of productivity, efficiency, and services.
- Develop structured learning experiences and teaching plans and monitor their effectiveness.
- Design and develop initiatives and programs to meet strategic business needs, Culture of Ownership, and Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Develop annual training calendar.
- Develop or oversee the production of classroom handouts, instructional materials, videos, manuals, etc.
- Translate requirements into training programs to prepare employees, leadership, and management to enhance current and future skills.
- Instruct/deliver training classes.
- Develop and train other trainers through train-the-trainer programs.
- Use metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and to make curriculum improvements. Provide reports and feedback to Human Resource leaders and other leadership as needed.
- Maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
- Maintain and deliver Management Essentials program to Midland Health and PBBHC (Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center).
- Continually evaluate ongoing training programs to ensure they reflect any needed changes.
- Develop a renewed “roadmap” structure for employees and leaders for Midland Health and PBBHC.
- Serve as backup to deliver NHO (New Hire Orientation) to Midland Health and PBBHC .
- Lead the Cultural Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee for Midland Health. Participate in other hospital committees as assigned, providing input and leadership.
- Develop Cultural Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee for PBBHC (Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center).
- Demonstrates knowledge of Human Resource policies, procedures, practices, law, and regulations and improves upon that level of knowledge.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, training and development or related field preferred.
- Master’s degree in related field is a plus.
- At least two years developing training materials and leading training classes.
- Prior healthcare or hospital training experience preferred.
- Certifications related to adult learning, training and development are a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong presentation and writing skills.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Ability to design and implement effective training and development programs and materials.
- Demonstrated strong technology skills, including Office products and other web-based / multimedia training platforms and methods used to develop learning tools.
- Proven record of accomplishment in project management and meeting deadlines.
- Prior experience administering / managing an LMS (Learning Management System) is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
