Overview
The residential college dean works closely in every regard with the college faculty head, who has overall responsibility for the mission of the college and the effective functioning of the college staff and program. The college dean and the collegeâ™s faculty head work closely together to promote a safe and supportive community, to encourage faculty-student interaction, and to enhance the intellectual and social climate of the college. The residential college dean works closely with the senior associate dean to articulate, interpret and apply policy in matters relating to undergraduate standing, and participates in strategic planning around issues including undergraduate expansion and the residential college program. The residential college dean is responsible for the day-to-day management of the college staff, programs, and operations, as well as oversight of the college budget. The residential college dean supervises the professional advising team within the college, working closely with the assistant dean for studies and the assistant dean for student life to support the progress to degree and well-being of approximately 800 undergraduates. The residential college dean reports to the faculty head and to the senior associate dean responsible for academic standing and the residential college program in the Office of the Dean of the College.

⢠Manages student requests for exceptions to academic policy, and acts in an advisory capacity to the Faculty Committee on Examinations and Standing.
⢠Responsible for the administration of leaves and reinstatements for all students affiliated with the residential college, including the preparation of all official correspondence; serves on the committee for leaves and reinstatements chaired by the senior associate dean of the college.

⢠Leads the advising team within the college, overseeing complex case management and working with the assistant dean for studies and the assistant dean for student life to support the progress to degree and well-being of approximately 800 undergraduates.
⢠As the senior academic affairs officer within the college, oversees academic advising and the implementation of academic policy for all affiliated students, with special responsibility for the academic standing of juniors and seniors. Acts as liaison to faculty and departmental advisers, guiding as needed on interpretation and application of University policy.
⢠Works closely with the assistant dean for student life, the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students, and a variety of university offices to coordinate support for students experiencing personal or health crises; represents the Office of the Dean of the College in post-hospitalization and family meetings.
⢠Responsible for compliance issues relating to studentsâ™ academic programs that may arise in working with the universityâ™s Title IX coordinator and Office of Disability Services.

⢠Works closely with the head of college to create a program that promotes a strong sense of community, encourages faculty-student interaction, and enhances the intellectual and social climate of the college.
⢠Collaborates with college staff on a wide range of intellectual and social programming, including the faculty fellows program and the faculty fellow in residence program; works closely with the assistant dean for studies, assistant dean for student life, and residential life coordinator to oversee the work of approximately 30 paid undergraduate student leaders.
⢠Partners with the residential college assistant dean for studies and with the associate dean for academic advising to recruit and train the 14 ⓠ17 faculty members who serve as academic advisers in the college.
⢠Works closely with the faculty head to appoint, train, and assess the performance of Resident Graduate Students within the college.

⢠Together with faculty head, represents the college interests in responding to issues relating to the Office of Capital Projects, Advancement, Alumni Affairs,and other University partners.

⢠Collaborates with colleagues from other residential colleges and other campus partners to ensure equity and consistency on a wide variety of educational programs and initiatives.
⢠Undertakes special projects for the Office of the Dean of the College. Examples include special committee work, administration of fellowship programs, review of academic requirements and regulations, participation in campus life initiatives, or research projects.
