Full time remote position
This position will be responsible for the Net Patient Service Revenue (NPSR) valuation, reporting and budgeting functions and the preparation of external filings of the Federal (Medicare, Champus), State (MET, DSH) and Uncompensated Care cost reports for Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Working closely with leadership, provides expertise for all aspects of NPSR and ensures the net revenue and reserve levels for the financial statements are properly stated.
- Responsible for the monthly Net Revenue valuation & analysis and ensures that the work is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Use a comprehensive understanding of net revenue calculations, reimbursement methodologies, compliance issues, including a working knowledge of Medicare & Medicaid payment rules and regulations.
- Responsible for the development of the annual revenue budgets and quarterly forecasts. Provides assistance in the calculation of net revenues for product line profitability, and other ad hoc analysis.
- Ensures that all Accounts Receivable (AR) reserve balances are properly stated and will be responsible for various analytical support related to the AR and AR reserve balances.
- Ensures the analytics of actual to budget variances and other data issues that have a bearing on revenue measurement are accurate and effectively communicated at the month-end financial close meetings.
- Prepares Medicare Cost report and all supporting documentation for wage index, and occupational mix submissions.
- Provides documentation and support to external auditors for year-end financial statements and for other audits pertaining to the Medicare Cost Report.
- Prepares Medicaid DSH filings, Medicaid Enhancement Tax filings and provides documentation and support to external auditors.
- Provides analysis and support to internal and external customers who request assistance related to expected payments/offsets to net revenue. Customers may include, but are not limited to the Office of Government Relations, Operations, Compliance, Administration, Finance, Contracting, RMD, the New Hampshire Hospital Association, (NHHA), consultants and law firms.
- Reviews regulatory changes and proposals for financial impact, and provides analysis and support for other special projects related to regulatory issues.
- Provides payment information for external surveys such as the NHHA, American Hospital Association (AHA) and the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) etc.
- Develops work processes and documents improvements.
- Provides analytic support to D-H Finance leadership and affiliate entity CFOs as requested.
- Develops strong working relationships with affiliate hospital finance staff as well as central budget, accounting, contracting managers, and staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (preferred) with 5+ years of experience in healthcare reimbursement preferably at an
Academic Medical Center, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical reimbursement regulations required including: Sole Community Hospital Status, 340b
eligibility, DSH, IME/GME, organ acquisition and allied health programs.
- Strong data and analytical skills and abilities are required.
- Highly effective verbal/written communications, computer and organization skills are essential.
- Must be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and function as a team member.
- Must be able to function under time pressures and meet deadlines.
- Additional relevant experience in a hospital setting of comparable size and large group practice experience preferred.
