Job description
Matrix New World is seeking experienced Survey Field Technicians who desire a challenging career to join our well-established team of Land Surveying professionals to participate in survey projects throughout the New York and New Jersey Metropolitan Area.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and technologically savvy individual with the vision and drive to apply state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies to a wide range of land surveying and geospatial projects. The survey technician will work within a survey team, led by a survey crew-chief in the field and will be responsible for collecting all required field data for the preparation of a variety of surveying projects for both public and private clients, utilizing Matrix' state-of-the-art instrumentation, which includes robotic total stations, GNSS and HD laser scanning.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• As part of a survey crew, be responsible for the collection of boundary, topographic stake-out and utility field measurements.
• Research, recover and measure real property evidence.
• Prepare field notes, photographs, and field sketches.
• Survey equipment maintenance and calibration
• Utilizes best surveying practices to perform all survey tasks.
• Follow all safety and security procedures.
• Represent Matrix New World whilst interfacing with public and private sector clients and the general public.
Experience and Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of experience within a survey field crew
• Experience running Leica robotic total stations, laser scanners, digital-levels and GNSS equipment is preferred.
• Experience performing boundary, topographic, utilities surveying, and construction stake out.
• Project experience with road and rail transit authorities, public utilities, energy services is preferred.
• Must be a self-starter and with the ability to work independently if required.
• Strong team-player skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Must be willing to travel to various project sites throughout NY and NJ.
• Certification as an LSIT is a plus but not necessary.
• Associate-degree in land surveying or equivalent is a plus but not necessary.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug & alcohol testing.

The annual salary range is $58,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience and certifications.
