Job description

Specifically, as a Claims Business Consultant you will also:

-Manage and update the claim database for private company business and management insurance such as employment practices, directors and officers, fiduciary, crime, miscellaneous professional services, and cyber coverages

-Work as a point person to internally assist Nationwide claims professionals with their underwriting questions while also assisting the Nationwide underwriters with their claims questions.

Reports to E-Risk Claims Manager.

Juris Doctorate (JD) degree preferred.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment in Flanders, New Jersey but may have work from home flexibility within this area. Frequent travel is not required.

Job Description Summary

As a single point of contact for our agents and insureds, we troubleshoot and deep dive into claims issues and losses to inform decisions, helping our customers get the most value for their insurance dollars. Our unique, holistic point of view helps us bring all the pieces together to attract and retain profitable middle market business. If you have exceptional communication skills, are customer focused and can instill confidence in our customers about claims handling, we want to hear from you!

As a Claims Business Consultant, you'll provide services to claims and profit center management in the delivery of claim service to mid and large commercial market accounts. You'll be a primary relationship manager, researching and resolving problem claim issues and/or workflows on behalf of agents, claims and profit centers. We'll count on you to consult with new and existing agents of Claim Department processes and procedures, including our online interface systems.

Key Responsibilities:

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Claims Director or Associate Vice President.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/training is preferred. AIC, CPCU or other appropriate designations preferred

Experience: Eight or more years of multi-line, multi-jurisdiction claim adjusting experience, with two years of claims supervisory/management experience preferred. Broad multi-line experience. Expertise in claims coverage and processes to assist internal and external partners.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of insurance coverage, tort law, claim values, claim philosophy, procedures and administrative claim techniques. Comprehension of procedural concepts related to company claims handling policies and able to effectively communicate them internally and externally. Detailed understanding and/or experience in underwriting/sales process preferred. Validated ability to analyze complex data/results, identify trends and make appropriate recommendations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to train agents in evaluation / use of claim reports and system. Ability to create account level presentations to support and assist in obtaining new business. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to convey detailed, meaningful and complex information to others accurately and quickly. Able to evaluate information from a variety of sources and translate/transform into appropriate programs or reports for accounts and agents. Able to work independently and take initiative to identify and implement actions designed to improve individual, departmental or corporate-wide performance. Builds and maintains cooperative and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and HR Business Partner.

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)

Working Conditions: Requires the ability to work in an office environment and maintain non-standard work hours such as weekends. Frequent travel required (up to 80% within territory). Some travel may be overnight. Ability to drive for extended periods.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.

The national salary range for Claims Business Consultant - Commercial Lines : 91,000.00-187,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Claims Business Consultant - Commercial Lines : 101,000.00 - 151,000.00
