A global leader in air quality and fluid handling solutions for the energy, industrial, and niche markets, is expanding its team with the addition of a Field Service Technician to its newly acquired business platform located in Tustin, CA, a leading global supplier of membrane-based industrial water and wastewater treatment systems.
Do you have a passion for international travel? This role demands extensive travel, up to 90%, with extended durations (up to 3 weeks) for installing, commissioning, and servicing equipment. Travel accommodations may include ships, offshore platforms, or remote locations with minimal facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Efficiently manage commissioning and startups for all equipment worldwide. Generate daily reports detailing encountered problems, and corrective actions taken, and obtain sign-offs for each job.
- Provide technical support via phone and email to customers and authorized service agents.
- Train authorized service representatives and customers on the proper operation and maintenance of all systems and components.
- Support various aspects, including scheduling, billing issues, labor rates, personnel training, quality, and technical concerns.
- Process daily warranty/non-warranty issues, such as logging in and scheduling Return Authorizations, and handle these issues promptly in accordance with company policies to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Communicate and collaborate with service management on all customer service issues.
- Ensure, track, and monitor customer satisfaction through follow-up emails, phone calls, and visits as needed to maintain a high level of customer contentment.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for service management, covering field service activities, billable hours, parts sales, return authorizations, etc.
- Develop and update operations, maintenance manuals, and service manuals as required.
- Actively promote aftermarket parts, service, and maintenance contracts through our representative network and direct customer interactions.
- Calibrate and/or repair equipment returned from the field.
- Stay informed about new company products and technologies.
- Perform additional tasks and duties assigned by the Director Aftermarket Sales & Service, including but not limited to FAT testing, research testing, and engineering assistance.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Previous technical and mechanical experience is required, with a preference for marine shipboard experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude is essential.
- Flexibility with schedule and work hours is required.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods.
- Trade school education or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Proficient English writing and communication skills are required.
Physical Fitness Requirements:
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs. from the floor to shoulder level.
- Able to carry 50 lbs. up a flight of stairs.
- Able to climb 5-10 flights of stairs.
- Capable of crawling up or down ship's webbing to board support vessels.
- Able to pass helicopter safety training and maintain certification.
- Capable of working in challenging positions under extreme conditions.
- Tasks may include squatting, laying, sitting on the floor, stretching, and working in tight spaces.
- Able to work in high temperatures exceeding 90°F with high humidity.
- Able to work in low temperatures below 32°F.
