Join Barrett Paving Materials Inc.'s dynamic internship program, crafted for current civil engineering and/or construction degree students, providing immersive exposure to the construction business; this paid internship spans from May to August, offering rotations across diverse locations and projects, facilitating hands-on experience in road construction.
Construction interns perform a variety of tasks, supporting various project managers, and collaborating with team members. Interns receive on-the-job and formal training, as well as mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions. We are looking for a motivated intern that can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.
Compensation
$20/hour
Construction Intern Main Responsibilities
- Assist the project team with the steps involved in various phases of determining the scope of the project: including bid processes and contract development; may attend pre-bid and planning meetings.
- Work closely with the project team monitoring the safety, cost and scheduling of construction projects.
- Assist with coordination of material purchases, deliveries, tracking, and forecasting ensuring maximum utilization of company resources.
- Participate in activities related to development and maintenance of customer relationships.
- Operate heavy equipment.
- Perform manual and skilled labor tasks.
- Complete other projects as a part of the internship program requirements.
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
- Assist to ensure that the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, environmental performance, quality, and efficiency; including compliance with MSHA, OSHA and EPA regulations.
Construction Intern Education
- Currently enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s degree program, such as: Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
Construction Intern Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Previous construction or intern experience preferred.
- Knowledge of other computer programs dealing with take-offs, bidding, etc. preferred.
Strong work-ethic
Strong problem-solving skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving history
