Job description
Job Summary: The Holy Family Cathedral Parish and Classical School Communication Manager supports the communication strategies for the parish and school community. The position ensures that communications are aligned with and nurtures the culture and intentions of Church teachings and parish priorities, the advancement of classical education, coordinating with multiple parties for consistency in messaging and branding. The Communication Manager acts with integrity and the highest degree of hospitality and professionalism, demonstrating collaboration and energy in serving others in the HFC community.
Essential Functions:
Communication Plan Coordination and Management
- Manages all aspects of the communication plan, proactively maintaining a regular cadence and structure for communications, coordinating details with all parties as needed in order to meet all deadlines, and to ensure effective and clear messaging to parishioners, school and parish staff members, parents, etc.
- Manages weekly parish bulletin, parish website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flocknote, and newsletter production-coordinating with content contributors on messages, deadlines, and priorities, providing support and assistance as needed for consistency and alignment.
- Manages weekly school Flocknote, website, Facebook, Instagram and other communication needs that help advance the mission of a classical school.
- Supports classical school communication needs for recruitment, enrollment clubs and organizations such as Martin Guild.
- Maintains brand standards across the institution in all communications, including internal posters and specific projects.
- Supports coordination of videography needs including live streams of events as needed.
- Monitors and measures effectiveness of communication plan, regularly reporting to the Rector, Associate Pastor and Head of School regarding recommended adjustments.
- Seeks opportunities to identify and anticipate communication needs that help to foster HFC priorities and Church teachings, coordinating plans and aligning with internal parties.
- Stewardship as a Way of Life
- Serves as the point of contact with Catholic Stewardship Consultants to ensure the ongoing promotion of Stewardship as a Way of Life.
- Serves as ministry leader advisor and primary point of contact for all parish and school ministries; supports ministry events, including planning, committees, parish leadership team, communications, and event set-up.
Community Liaison
• Manages Cathedral Tours and tour guides to ensure easy access to the Cathedral and its rich history.
Communication Technology Maintenance and Support
- Maintains and has primary oversight of the parish and school website, ensuring consistency of messaging and branding.
- Maintains the Live Steam Equipment in the Cathedral
- Coordinates with the Operations Manager to ensure appropriate utilization and training on internal communication technology such as email system.
Other Duties
• Other responsibilities as requested and needed, including the support of the front desk in the absence of the Office Manager.
Key Skills:
- Working knowledge of general practices, methods and technology related to public relations media relations and marketing.
- Current knowledge of social media best practices.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize.
- Collaborative, helpful, and open-minded spirit.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, multiple priority setting.
- Strong and positive problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Google products and editing suites.
Background & Education:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, communications, media or a related field.
- 3+ Years in a communication role with a focus on graphic design, creative support, and agency coordination.
- Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the ministerial exception.

Physical Requirements: Employees should be able to meet the physical and mental demands of all the aforesaid key tasks, skills, and attributes. Such requirements include, but are not limited to, the frequent lifting or moving of up to ten (10) pounds and the occasional lifting or moving of up to twenty-five (25) pounds; frequent sitting and the occasional demands of driving long distances.
