Scrap Yard Manager [ Johnstown , Altoona , Cresson area ]
$ 55,000. - $ 70,000. + Quarterly Bonuses + 12 % on 401 K
This position will be responsible for overseeing, maintaining and managing the scrap yard operations. This role involves management of all aspect of operations, including material intake, processing, packaging, and shipping.
The best candidate exemplifies the ability to develop and implement strategies to boost productivity and profitability while maintaining strong relationships with customers and team members.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED Required;
- Basic knowledge of cost accounting principles
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience required in the manufacturing industry
- Supervisory/Management experience Preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven communication skills that are effective at working and motivating others and building relationships with customers;
- Self-starter that takes initiatives with ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines
- A working understanding of scrap, operations, scrap grading, transportation, and pricing
- Working knowledge of industrial equipment and its maintenance
- Ability to operate a forklift, skid steer, and/or other heavy machinery;
- Demonstrate visual recognition of workplace hazards;
JOB DUTIES:
- Read and comprehend labels and MSDS sheets;
- Successful supervisory/management experience of team(s) that resulted in profitable outcomes;
- Work in outdoor season conditions hot/cold weather.
- Plan daily/weekly manpower needs based upon business demands and closely monitors overtime hours and dollars;
- Assigns tasks ensuring efficient allocation of labor maximizing productivity;
- Motivates trains and develops a productive cohesive team;
- Maintains the upkeep and maintenance of capital investments (i.e. building property, equipment, etc.);
- Maintains an organized and logical yard operation;
- Manage and maintain relationships with the public with the ability to resolve any conflicts in a way that leads to positive resolutions.
